Robert "Bob" Horrigan Military Fighter
Robert “Bob” Horrigan, the “Quiet Professional,” was one of the Army’s most elite soldiers. Bob enlisted in the Army in 1984 and served with his twin brother and Master Knife Maker, John Horrigan.
Assigned to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Master Sergeant Robert Horrigan played a critical role in multiple successful operations around the world during his adventurous career.
Bob was, and to this day still is, admired for his achievements, and for his commitment to his teammates and country. He was referred to as “The Soldier’s Soldier” and admired by the best of the best. Bob has been written about by authors such as George Hand IV, Pete Blaber, and Sean Naylor, and was the prime character in several of Brad Thor’s books.
Bob and John had been together from the beginning, and as they grew, they both became avid hunters and Army Rangers. They had a mutual love of country, hunting, fishing, shooting and knife making. They both aspired to be world class bladesmiths. Bob had planned to retire from the Army and spend his days in the shop with John making some of the finest knives man can create. They often attended knife shows together and knew the best knife makers in the industry. Bob had made several of his own designs and knives that made their way among the military’s elite that are still carried to this day.
On June 17, 2005 Master Sergeant Robert “Bob” Horrigan and Master Sergeant Michael McNulty were killed in Al Quim, Iraq while serving this great nation. Master Bladesmith John Horrigan honors his brother with the knife originally designed by Bob, rightly named the “Bob Horrigan Fighter.” Designed and built for the Military Elite, this knife has been carried all over the world and signifies the honor and tradition of service, pride, craftsmanship, and a brother’s love. From Elite Forces, to your hands, this knife is like no other.
Master Sergeant Bob Horrigan is survived by his wife Denise, his daughter Courtney, his mother Mary, his sister Lisa Shine, his twin brother John and brother Daniel. His awards and decorations included two Bronze Star Medals, one with Valor Device, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, three Army Achievement Medals, six Army Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal with bronze service star, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the NATO Medal, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Military Freefall Jumpmaster Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Scuba Diver's Badge, the Ranger Tab and the Special Forces Tab.
