DESCRIPTION - The First and Still Among the Best
For classic Ken Onion styling - ergonomic handle shape, multi-functional blade, and of course, the patented SpeedSafe® assisted opening system - don't miss this series of popular knives. These are some of the first of Kershaw's SpeedSafe® knives and still among the best. In fact, when it first came out, the classic Blackout was recognized as a Blade Magazine Best Buy. And it's still priced the same as it was in 1999 - along with its siblings, the Whirlwind and the Avalanche.
Both Blackout and Whirlwind feature 13C26 stainless-steel blades for strength and excellent corrosion resistance. The Blackout's blade is also coated with Tungsten DLC for a handsome, non-reflective surface. Choose the standard, smooth blade edge or a partially serrated blade for even more cutting versatility. For a comfortable and stable grip, both Blackout and Whirlwind models have an extremely durable, contoured handle of Polyimide®. Stainless-steel locking liners maintain the blade in a safe and secure position and enhance the overall handle strength.
